How did you get into PR?

I started as a small-town newspaper reporter and freelance journalist. I even did a stint as an intern writer for Macworld. I got pitches from PR professionals all the time and watched what grabbed my fellow reporters' attention. Due to the instability of journalism, I pursued my other passion, politics, and went to work for a political consulting firm that also managed public relations for major corporate clients. I used my journalism skills and my political skills to help corporate clients and discovered I liked PR.

What type of technology excites you the most?

I would love Star Trek-style transporters, replicators, and holodecks. Sadly, those technologies are still a ways in the distance, so I am excited about self-driving cars, virtual reality headsets, and streaming technology.

Favorite hobbies or activities?

I was a creative writing major in college. I have multiple screenplays and novels on my computer and phone that I am slowly working on completing. I am also learning sketch writing. I love a good walk and binge-watch. I am also passionate about politics and intend to engage more in local campaigns.

Favorite movie or book?

Book: It is a tie between A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and Harry’s Mad. I took writing classes with the author of AHWOSG, Dave Eggers, and that experience greatly impacted me. I named my parrot of 17 years after the protagonist in Harry’s Mad, a children’s book I read as a kid about an English boy who inherits a parrot from his eccentric American uncle.
